Overview

You’ve just entered the TrophoVerse. It’s literally, the sum of all trophoblastic disease existence. No matter where or when you started your OBGYN residency training program, you are part of the TrophoVerse.

The TrophoVerse is an online course devoted to gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD). GTD is a rare but serious condition affecting women of childbearing age with an incidence of 1:714 live births. It encompasses a heterogeneous group of placental trophoblastic diseases subdivided into benign (hydatidiform mole - HM) and neoplastic subtypes (gestational trophoblastic neoplasia - GTN). The diagnosis of GTD can have profound effects on both the patient and her family and it is essential that it is recognized and managed appropriately. It is therefore very important for the OBGYN residents to have a good grasp of the concepts on and the approach to the diagnosis and management of and updates on HM and GTN. In fulfillment of the requirements of the subspecialty rotation in Trophoblastic Disease, the OBGYN residents must accomplish this online course. At the end of this course, the residents should be able to:

  • Master the basic knowledge and skills in trophoblastic disease.

  • Provide timely diagnosis of and prompt and appropriate management to GTD patients as well as refer them to other specialists when needed.

  • Develop proficient skills in counseling and patient education.
